Christmas Day 2008

So things will have to be a bit backwards. I am going to blog about Christmas day first because my camera was dead:( So I am going to have to steal so pictures.
I love Christmas, and the traditions we have in my family. When we were younger we all slept downstairs. I remember as a child staying awake all night listening to the floor creaking and wondering if that was Santa. Christmas morning we had to wait for everyone to be awake and we would line up at the bottom of the stairs and take the traditional "stair" picture of all of us in our matching jammas. We would line up oldest to youngest and take the hike up the stairs to see what Santa had brought us. After we were done seeing what Santa had spoiled us with my mom had made a yummy breakfast of pullaparts and breakfast casserole.
This year we were all home. It was so crowded and loud but I loved every second of it. Kenidee was so happy to have her cousins there. I love being with all of my brothers and sisters, we have so much fun together! I can't tell you how many times we gathered to play games and never got around to it and just sat around talking laughing and eating.
Kenidee was so fun this year. She has been walking around the house singing Christmas songs since I got home from the hospital. My mom taught her so many. She loved driving around looking at Christmas lights. She was excited about Santa,(from a distance) and getting gifts and packages in the mail from family in Washington. Every time a package would show up on the door step she would yell presents for me from Mama JUJU! She loved playing with her fisher price nativity. (Everyone with kids should get one) I don’t know if she got the meaning of Christmas but she sure knew who Jesus’ mommy was and daddy, and that the baby slept in the hay. (Thank you silent night.) I can’t wait for next year when she gets it even more. I love being a parent and being able to play a new role in Christmas it is so fun!
We didn’t get a lot of things done that I wanted to do this year do to our early surprise. So Christmas cards are still coming but they will defiantly be very late. I wanted to wait to get pictures until Bennett was here. So we should be doing them soon. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and made many memories.

I loved watching Kenidee reach into her sock it was almost as big as she was.

Kenidee with her new baby doll... I asked her what she named her baby and she told me Ellie (her cousin in Wa. name)

Bennett's First Christmas him with his stash from santa.

Kenidee loved opening gifts... she was so good at it too.

This was Robins favorite gift Kenidee got. A SEAHAWKS Sweatshirt. Thank you Aunt Kari and Uncle Nick.

Hailee my couldn't find a place to sit at my parents house so she made herself comfy on a gift. she is so cute.

Opening Gifts with cousins. She had so much fun.

Yea snow boots they couldn't have come at a better time.

Just wanted you to see that I wasn't kidding when I told you it was crowded at my parents house.

I have to say I was the winner with the gift for my mom and dad. I made my dad a book of his grandkids and my mom a family calender. It made both of them cry... My dad said that his book was the best gift he had gotten. I aqm so glad they loved them

This is a cookie sheet my mom got Kenidee thought it was great to push your face into

Our house is taped and textured! I sure wish we were in it but soon we hope this is our kitchen and family room.

Self Portraits!

I discovered that there were no pictures of me with my kids... so the other day I got ready for the day AMAZING I know. So we took so self portraits. That was difficult but we got a few. Kenidee and I Had a good time....Bennett didn't mind. He is such a good baby, and loves to cuddle. We are so blessed to have such wonderful children. The last few days I have been overwhelmed with greatfulness to my Heavenly Father. I sometimes can't believe that he would send me his sweet children to raise, teach them the gospel and protect them. I am so thankful to have them in my life things just wouldn't seem right without them.

cleaning, christmas dresses, and a sleeping girl

Kenidee helping out with the house work.

Kenidee Dancing in her tights! Robin and I thought it was just so funny. She has such skinny legs.

My friend Alynn gives her girls Christmas dresses the Sunday after thanksgiving, then they can wear them all season. I thought this was a wonderful idea, so I stole it. I searched high and low for a beautiful dress that I didn't have to sale my kidney on the black market to get it. I think it is beautiful, and she looks so cute in brown! The price well lets just say I thought about taking it back but when Kenidee tried it on at my moms and told me she looked like a princess I had to keep it.

Kenidee thinks she does not need naps anymore.... this is how I found her the other night, all straped in.

He is Here!

So things didn't go quite as planned(do they ever) Sunday November 30 Robin and I went to the hospital to do a non stress test, and I had had a headache that wouldn't go away all night. So when I got to the hospital they decided to start me. So Sunday was spent in labor. I was wimpy and got and epidural. That night the nurses would come in and check me every hour. They decided to put me on some oxygen because the baby wasn't doing exactly what they thought he should be.
The next morning The Dr. came in and broke my water and things were coming along nicely. I told Robin to run down and get hims something to eat before anything happens, then called my mom to give her an update of what was going on. while I was on the phone with my mom the nurse came in and told me I need to get my oxygen back on the baby wasn't doing as well as they wanted him ot be doing. Then for some reason she wanted to check me again. I had just been checked and the DR. had just put a monitor on the baby to better read the baby's heart. When she checked me the baby's cord was coming first. I can't remember what it is called. Things from then on happened so fast.
The nurse called for more nursed and told them to go and get the dr. then the next thing I Knew I was being wheeled down the hall for an emergency C section. I called Robin on my cell phone as we were leaving the room to tell him he needed to hurry back up and quickly let him know of the plans.
Things in the operating room were a blur. things were going so fast and things all kind of blurred together. Robin couldn't come in because they were going to put me totally under. I didn't get put all the way under, and robin waited in NICU for our little boy.
I really don't know how much time it took to get him out but it didn't seem like all that long. Soon I heard a baby crying and I got a quick glace of him as they lifted him over the curtain. I just kept praying that the baby was going to be alright and that Robin was going to be okay as well.
So.... Bennett Wayne Markham was born on December 1, three weeks early at 8:08 Am and weighed 8 lbs 4 oz and was 20 inches long. We were so happy he was doing so well. He lungs were developed and never needed help breathing
A few hours later I was in so much pain I couldn't even keep ice down. Things slowly got worse. The Dr. said that some peoples guts are just really sensitive and don't like being touched. My guts don't like it at all they were having a hard time starting up again. So in order for them to heal I needed to get a tube in my nose that went down into my stomach to suck everything out. To give my body some time to heal. All I could do was suck on some ice and swab my mouth with water so it wouldn't get to dry. Another thing they have you do to get better is walking and alot of it. Everyday I could go a little further. I set goals to make it to the nursery so I could hold Bennett. This was the best thing for me. Some days I only made it long enough to the nursery to kiss him and head back because I was in so much pain.
We got to come home yesterday! I am still healing and learning how to handle two kids, and not being able to move how your used to. Kenidee loves having her brother home so far. I can tell it will be a struggle, but she is going to be a great big sister.
I am so thankful for prayers and fasting of family members. I am thankful that I have a husband and a father who have the priesthood, and for a mother who puts her life on hold to take care of me and my daughter. There is no better feeling then knowing that your child is being taken care of. I never had to worry about Kenidee through this whole thing.
Sorry the pictures got all mixed up and I don't want to take the time to fix them. :)

Whats going on?

This is what we have been up too. I have been going to the Dr. twice a week to do a non stress test, and then once for my appointment. so I have been living at the Dr. office. Lets just say the rest of the staff felt so terribly left out that they also wanted to get to know me better. (the P.A. and one of the nurses were my roommates in college)
Last Thursday I went into the hospital again for a few hours with the threat of them going to induce me again. I did beg to him to please let me go one more day so I could go to twilight. Once I did get to the hospital they didn't have room for me so I hung out in the recovery room for a few hours to be monitored again. They started an IV and took some more blood for testing. Things looked GREAT! So when the Dr. came over to check on me he told me to go home and keep doing what I was doing the longer we keep the baby in right now the better chance we have of taking him home with us.
I went to the Dr. again on Monday and things with the baby looked really good we will keep doing non stress tests to make sure the baby is okay.
Me on the other hand... I looking rather swollen and huge. My blood pressure is doing good and all the other stuff they check is slowly going up but not in huge leaps and bounds. On Monday I will find out when my appointment is for an amniocentesis. It will be Tuesday or wend. of next week if the lungs are developed then they will induce me. So hopefully we will be having a baby next week. Am I ready? no.... are you really ever.... I don't know.

Baby Update

We went to the Dr. yesterday to do a growth ultra sound. The baby is doing fine, actually better then fine the little guy is about 7 lbs and 9 oz! He still has 5 weeks till Due date. He has turned ,at the hospital he was sideways, so now he is head down. We will be going into the Dr. twice a week to monitor the baby and to see how I am doing. So we will be playing it by ear. I really want to wait till after Friday..... One word Twilight! :) Then lets see if we can make it after Thanksgiving.
Yesterday my blood pressure was really good so I was happy about that but they still need to watch me close and I still need to be taking it easy.

How is Kenidee doing with all this? We have talked to her about a baby brother coming. We talk about it alto. She is picking out toys in Christmas magazines for her brother, she tells me she will give him binkis and change his poopy pants. YIPPEE!!! :) she talks to him in my belly, tells him jokes and laughs... but She has to have me, she wants me to do everything. Before I could never put her to bed at night she only wanted Robin, now she just wants me. She has been acting up and being quite sassy. Some people have told me that they have experienced this, the child knows that things are going to be changing soon. We will just have to take one day at a time. I guess that is the story of our lives now adays.

Now about the house! Justen my older brother helped Robin a few nights last week and all day saturday. Thank you J, and Bri for letting him come help. So on Saturday they got our house all sheet rocked! I don't know do you take pictures of white walls. I might go out and do that. It is starting to look like a house! We have people come in and tape and texture it. Now we have 4 houses sheet rocked and 5 to go! They have got our fence posts up and most of the wood between the posts in. We are waiting on contractors and inspections on 3 of the houses they are really far behind ours, but hopefully soon we will be able to start working on the other houses

What a day!

Yet another post with out pictures. I do have one Thank you Bri but no one needs to see it.

I went to the dr. on Monday for the usual check up and my blood pressure was high, we did some blood work and a few other samples were taken. Then yesterday I got a call from the dr. office telling me that I needed to call them back ASAP. Not a good sign. When I did talk to the Dr.'s office they told me that my blood test came back ok but there was way to much protein in my sample. I was told that I needed to get to the hospital as soon as I could and they would run a few more test and I would be having a baby. Needless to say I was scared. This is six weeks early! I am so not ready for a baby, I still have so much to do, and will he be ready so soon.
With lots of help from family and my sister in law bri I made it to the hospital in one piece, and laughing. Robin met us there. When we got there they were waiting for us. They got me all settled and on a machine to take my blood pressure every ten min. and to monitor the baby. They took more blood to do more tests( I sure wish my old roommie melissa was there she is so good at taking blood, she has done it a few times at the dr office for me.) We were at the hospital for 4 hours trying to find out if I was going to have a baby or not. The reason they didn't start me as soon as I got there is because I told them the baby was breach so they were trying to figure out what my dr. really wanted to do.
The blood test came back normal and my blood pressure was really good. The Dr. came in to see me and we chatted for a bit and he put me on bed rest and Told me that we want to try to keep the baby in for at least 2 more weeks. I was so relieved that we weren't going to be having a baby last night.
I do have to be careful, the Doc said they baby will come sooner then later but not so early. I am so glad that things turned out so much better.
Robin took the day off to help me get things in order so I can be on bed rest, he has helped me clean get laundry done and is out grocery shopping. For those of you close you know how much stress robin has been under, but now I can't go out to the house and help get hours so if anyone wants to drywall we will be doing it for awhile we would really appreciate help, he can't do it all alone.

Funny thing...

Kenidee loves her baby brother.... we hope. Just a little bit ago she came to me and started talking to my tummy. Appaently this wasn't good enough.... She had to lift my shirt and stick her headup my shirt and pull my shirt over her head to talk to her baby brother. this is what she said ......
Hello baby brother..... What's your name?....SANTA! Giggle giggle. Hello santa I name DEE DEE. (kisses my tummy)uncovers her head and runs away laughing.
A huge thank you to her Aunt Bri who has convinced Kenidee that her baby brothers name is Santa.
We haven't picked out A name we have a whole grocery list of names, we just want to see the little boy and then maybe we could agree on one. Lets just hope he isn't stuck with Santa.

getting caught up.

You may or may not want to read all of this but I wanted to write about some funny things Kenidee has done or said. I seem to forget things so... this blog is my new journal. :)
Kenidee and I went out to the house to see Robin, Kenidee hadn't seen him in a few days. When we got there Robin opened the back door and was talking to Kenidee and she said to Robin "daddy get in. So Robin squished himself in the back seat and then she told him "daddy shut the door." He did then she yells to me "MOMMY DRIVE!" Yep I guess she really missed him to want us to kidnap her daddy.

Before Halloween we went to a few carnivals one for the ward and one at hawthorn Elementary in Idaho falls. (rebecca joined the PTA.) Kenidee really loved both of them. She loved looking at all the kids. She loved playing games. She would tell me mom look at that scary witch.... she's a funny witch.

Kenidee was a little skunk and when you would ask her what a skunk says she would say P.U. then shake her little bumm and make a little pst pst noise. thanks you beck. Yes that is me standing behind her so I guess you could say it is a family picture.

We had a great Halloween but my camera was dead so I will have to steal pictures from Bri and post them later.

A week or so ago we were at my moms taking advantage of the nice weather and sun shine when kenidee and I decided to go and Rake up my grandparents leaves. She didn't not like this at all last year but this year she was in heaven she would run jump, tell me to cover her all up, and when I did she would laugh and laugh. Did I take pictures sure did.... on my dad's camera so once again I will have to post them later. So while we were playing my grandpa Bruce came home. Kenidee calls him Papa Bear. When she saw him being dropped off at the house she took off running yelling PAPA BEAR! PAPA BEAR! She runs into his arms and he lifts her up kisses her and gives her a little toss in the air. Kenidee loves to have papa bear read to her. she will sit and listen to him story after story after story. She really loves her Papa Bear. He always tells her and everyone around her that she has such beautiful hair. He loves it. I am so glad that Kenidee gets to have a relationship with such a wonderful man.

Now for a big story......The dentist told us it was time for Kenidee to get rid of the binky so I was thinking of ways to do it with out breaking her heart or mine. So on halloween I was looking on youtube to find something that she could see what would happen to her binky and I found this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaXSUWb5btY Kenidee and I watched it like 7 times then she got off my lap went and got her binkys out of bed and ran into the kitchen and said I throw them away k mommy, and chucked them into the garbage! My mind was going crazy, do I get them out, do I really want to do this on Halloween it is going to be such a long night. My mom was going to be watching Kenidee for nap times do I dare do that to my mom. I decided to keep them in the garbage. After Kenidee was gone to my moms I took them out and hid them but I have found 3 or 4 binkys around the house and have hid them as well.
she had done really well she has only asked for them a few times then she says "Dede threw them in the garbage, I a big girl huh mom." It has gone better then I thought it would but night time has been a little harder she wants to be rocked but I guess that is better then yuckie teeth.

We are doing good. We have been super busy. I sure hope we still have friends after the building of the house. We spend every spare minute out at the house.I can't wait till we are done. We should start sheet rocking this week. Some people say it will be so fast now and others say this is the longest part. I am trying to get everything picked out(carpet tile lights etc.) before December so I can focus on the baby and getting ready for him, and Christmas and the many birthdays that are to come.

What a week!

A few things have happened this week that we need to post! Sorry not many pictures.

First of all Kenidee went to the dentist for the first time. We didn't have much time to talk about it, because I called for her appointment and she went the next afternoon. SO... That is about all we talked about. When we walked into the office she ran to the toys while I filled out paper work. Then the hygienist came out to get us, Kenidee was busy playing with a doll and she let her take it back with her. The Hygienist was AWESOME!!!! She let Kenidee play with her gloves on and off her hands, Kenidee got to touch all the tools that would be used in her mouth. There was one time when the hygienist was cleaning Kenidee's teeth that Kenidee tried to sit up a little, the hygienist told her she was almost done, but Kenidee was telling me that it tickled her teeth.
When the dentist came in he started to talk to Kenidee and she said to him " you the Dentist?" He laughed and made some jokes about wouldn't it be funny if is name was Dennis the Dentist? Kenidee just looked at me like really was that a joke.
Kenidee did AWESOME! She let him look at her teeth and count them. He did tell us it was time for the Binky to go away it is interfering with her teeth, and pushing them out. The dentist let Kenidee know that the binky was hurting her teeth. I think she knows it is going because she has been really sneaky with it, the rule has been she can only have it in bed so I will find her sitting in her bed or leaning on her bed with her binky. I think she knows it is going soon. Just as soon as I find a way and a heart to do it. :)
I didn't take any pictures but I should have. She was such a good girl and I am so proud of her. She still talks about the dentist everyday and she wants to brush her teeth about 20 times a day... I let her how can you tell her no you can't brush your teeth.

HOUSE UPDATE!
We haven't had much to do on the house for a week or so, and this week is up in the air. We have been waiting on inpections, and contractors. We were supposed to get black top and insulation blown in this week. So my mom Kenidee and I drove out to see what has been going on today. Our insulation is all blown in! One other house has it too. I know 2 out of nine houses isn't that good but soon we will have lids and we will be able to start sheetrocking.
When Kenidee and I walked in our house she said oh mom this is Dede's(that is what she calls herself) new house and ran to the wall and dunked under the cords in the wall to get to her room and started spinning saying I like Dede's new house. When it was time to leave she didn't wan't to leave our house. It was cute, but I had to drag her out to the car. She cryed the whole way home. I stay at Dede'e house.
There is more but Robin just got home and I would like to spend sometime with him while we are both awake.......some of you know how it goes huh.

weekend visit!

Robin's mom and our sister in law Kari came into town this weekend. it was a short trip but the girls had so much fun together. Saturday we went to the gardens and let the girls run and play. they loved it there was a man playing his guitar and singing in one of the gazebo's and he had an amazing voice the girls would dance and he sang to them it was so cute. Ellie and Kenidee love each other, they really do play so well together and Kari and I are amazed at how much they are alike. In the mornings when Ellie would wake up first she would ask where Kenidee was.
Sunday they went to nursery together and went to my brothers house to see the horses Kenidee loves the horses and Ellie thought they were great but soon wanted to go somewhere else.
Kenidee can't get enough of baby exie (lexie) she loves her and wants to hold her but Lexie she wants to be moving. Lexie will pull at kenidee's face and hair KEnidee go used to this and started to like the attention I guess as long as she was holding her it was okay.
Kenidee and Ellie also found out how to climb into the pack and play. They were in there just playing and jumping before Aunt Kari found them.
We love having them come and wish the visit were longer. Judy and Kari left before we woke up on Monday, I was worried about Kenidee being sad but she said to me when she woke up, Ellie went to see her daddy. I think she understood as much as a two year old could.
The girls were super lucky this summer they got to see each other about every other month. I don't think this will happen every summer. I am so glad that Kenidee has a relationship with her cousins in Washington. We will miss them. Hopefully things will work out and we will get to see lots of family in Feb. when we bless our new little boy.

For your viewing pleasure.

My sister and I were just hanging out in the living room when I thought I saw Kenidee do a summer salt out of the corner of my eye so I asked her to do it again... yep sure enough she did a summer salt. we hadn't been working on them she just did it. She was so proud of herself. She does them all the time now. I think she is so cute.
Last night when we were listening to Christmas Music Kenidee was dancing. She makes me laugh. It isn't the best of her moves she gets a bit camera shy.

Still snowing

We were out at the house yesterday and it started snowing! just a few flakes here and there. Then last night while I was making dinner it started really coming down. So some of you might know my little rule.... First snow fall of the year play Christmas music, then not again till after Thanksgiving. So Robin got on Pandora and we listened to Christmas music all night. I love it. I know one of my roommates is dying right now. She only listens to Christmas music Christmas day I think lol.(aren't you glad your in Texas Alisha) Then Robin took Kenidee out side to play in the snow she loved it, in fact she didn't want to come back in.
This morning it is still snowing and I am debating turning on Christmas music just for today then not till after thanksgiving.

Playing in the snow

Cheese Daddy!

Kenidee and Robin Enjoying the snow.

Not wanting to come back in from the snow see how cold she is. We really need to get her some warm boots, a hat and some good gloves.

This morning Kenidee and I made Pumpkin Bread! YUMM I love it. I have wanted to make it for a few days now but our life is so crazy, in fact I thought about it when I was out working on the house and I ripped off a piece of box called my friend Kim (who makes the best pumpkin bread ever) and wrote the recipe down with a pencil out at the house.

If you look close she has flour on her face. she was such a good helper. she stired and st ired the dry ingredients, she told me over and over how good the Cinnamon smelt. she is so fun to have help me.

She also LOVES to color. she will color all day long really and I found the twistier Crayola crayons and I love them.
